The Sizes of Things in the Mind’s Eye (second version) 2000

Installation: sculpture and stop-frame animation, standing wood frame, lenses, hidden CRT monitor and mirror. Dimensions variable; vitrine is 77 x 22 x 16 inches.

In a vitrine, a small portrait head is paired with its own virtual image. The image, moving in simple gestures of tilt and rumination, is a looped animation projected into the space of the vitrine via lens, mirror, and a hidden monitor. The sculpture, still in progress when this installation was first shown, was later completed as Silent Partner. The animation is an excerpt of the video Eidolon.
