The Sizes of Things in the Mind’s Eye (first version) 1999

Installation: stop-frame animation, standing wood frame, lens, hidden CRT monitor and mirror. Dimensions variable.

From a hidden CRT screen, an animation is projected through a lens in the wall. When the viewer steps before the wooden frame (facing the lens on its optical axis), a virtual image comes into view and floats in the space of the empty frame. Shown in a darkened room, the animation, made with the sculpture Pupil, is a series of brief simple gestures, 5 to 10 seconds each, separated by dissolves to black. The animation is an edit of footage from the film What Happened.
